便秘の原因を知るためには、便秘になった経緯を詳しく調べることが最も重要です（１）。なぜなら便秘になる原因として、体を動かせなくなったり、トイレの習慣が変ったり、食習慣が変ったりなどがあります。また薬の副作用によって便秘になったり、ストレスで便秘になったりすることもあります。便秘になったきっかけを調べ、ライフスタイルを把握することで、便秘の原因を正確に知ることができるのです（２）。

骨盤底筋あるいは肛門の筋肉に問題がある場合

• 骨盤底筋群の筋力の低下あるいはトイレの間違った習慣により肛門括約筋が排便するときに逆に緊張してしまう。
